Since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, voter apathy has steadily increased, leading to widespread disenfranchisement, particularly in rural areas. These communities face challenges such as high population density, poor infrastructure, low literacy levels, and extreme poverty, all of which hinder their participation in nation-building. With nearly half of the population excluded from democratic processes, governance risks being urban-focused rather than truly national.

To address this challenge, South Saharan Social Development Organization (SSDO) launched Project 100 – Rural Election Drive, a targeted initiative aimed at increasing voter participation in rural communities and ensuring their voices are heard in the democratic process.
