Project Background

Radio School is the flagship education project of the South Saharan Social Development Organization (SSDO), funded by the MacArthur Foundation. The project was implemented in Enugu and Adamawa States in collaboration with the Centre for Public Education and Mobilization for Development in Nigeria (CEPAD-Nigeria). The project was initially designed to cover 17 schools in Enugu State and 21 schools in Adamawa State. However, due to its relevance and impact, the governments of both states scaled up the intervention to reach all 150 secondary schools in Adamawa State and all 292 secondary schools in Enugu State. For implementation and coordination purposes, the schools in Enugu State are grouped under education zones, while those in Adamawa State are organized according to senatorial zones.

Project Objective

To increase students’ access to quality and relevant educational content through radio-based learning programmes.

To scale up radio-supported education interventions across secondary schools in Enugu and Adamawa States.

To strengthen teaching and learning outcomes in secondary schools through innovative and accessible educational approaches.
