Project Background

The Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH), with funding from the Global Fund New Funding Request (NFR) Grant, implemented the Scale-Up of Services for Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB) Prevention and Control in Nigeria. South Saharan Social Development Organization (SSDO) served as the Community-Based Organization (CBO) and Sub-Recipient, implementing community-based DR-TB interventions across Enugu State from January 2021 to December 2023. The project aimed to improve access to quality, patient-centered DR-TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services through active case finding, contact tracing, treatment adherence monitoring, and psychosocial support. Working closely with Local Government TB Supervisors, healthcare workers, DOT providers, and trained Treatment Supporters, the intervention strengthened community-based TB care, improved treatment adherence, and contributed to better treatment outcomes while reducing the spread of DR-TB in Enugu State.
