ABOUT US
South Saharan Social Development Organization (SSDO) is a duly registered non-profit organization in Nigeria, with a primary focus of equipping women, youth and children with the social, health, economic, educational and political skills needed to survive and compete favourably in a vastly changing and urbanizing sub Saharan Africa.
SSDO believes that
WHAT WE DO
Since its inception in 2001, SOUTH SAHARAN has become a viable platform for many young women and men to learn about and explore their femininity and masculinity in a non-destructive, mutually reinforcing and respectful manner that empowers them to exploit their full citizenship.
We recognize that full citizenship can only be achieved through economic, political and social independence so we provide the platform for growth and improvement. We also provide women with a set of financial services and tools to strengthen their skills and maximize their income and minimize their interest in anti-social activities.
SSDO remains strongly committed to the vision of making development happen for women, youth and children, thus with our small team of highly motivated and deeply dedicated women and men, innovate and implement programmes that foster the mental, physical and spiritual growth and wellbeing of the most marginalized and neglected members of our communities, especially women and girls. In collaboration with our partners, allies, community platforms and structures, SSDO uses reflections and lessons from these programmes, to give voice to community people, economically empower the poor, seek good accountable governance, people centered policies and improve public services in Nigeria.
