Reaching out:
SSDO organises outreach programmes annually where youth go into the community and schools as educators for various issues, mostly around health, HIV/AIDS, Democracy education, Child Protection etc. Most of these outreach programmes are organised around their World Days.
The reach out programme also organises periodic conferences for the general public on specific social issues.
SSDO provides avenues for young people
to network with each other and others in government and the private sector
that can assist in their socio-economic and political development. This
is done through
> Open space workshops: These are semi-formal workshops where young
people come to learn from each and share experiences.
> Role model sessions: These are sessions where positive role models
are invited to the youth workshops to help the young people define their
future. These role models are also invited to give talks in secondary
schools. |
